Hello
"It gives me great joy to support people in making positive changes in their lives - and witness how that transforms not only their enjoyment of life, but also their relationships with family, friends, and colleagues."
My Story
First and foremost, I am passionate about helping people. My choice to study and work as a clinical hypnotherapist and psychotherapist comes from a genuine desire to support others, shaped by my own lived experience of stress, anxiety, depression - and simply navigating life's challenges! I understand just how overwhelming and isolating those challenges can feel, and how important it is to find a way forward.
My background is varied: from corporate roles and running my own marketing consultancy, to working in schools, running a dog-walking business, and dedicating a decade to volunteering as a sports coach at Special Olympics with youth and adults with special needs. I also very much enjoy spending time supporting people through my volunteer work with Samaritans. And as a mum of two - one of whom has a learning disability - I’ve seen first-hand the impact that mental health can have on every part of our lives.
What drew me to Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) is its practical and forward-looking approach. Unlike therapies that focus on unpicking the past, SFH gently supports you in the here and now, helping you build the future you want. For me, the scientific foundation of SFH was essential - I wanted to work with techniques that are evidence-based, structured, and that I could wholeheartedly trust to make a difference.
I’ve already had the privilege of helping clients with a wide range of concerns: from anxiety, depression, and stress-related conditions, to phobias such as flying and heights, habits like nail biting, alcohol use, smoking, and vaping, and performance improvement for work and sport. I work with both adults and children/teens, and I love seeing the ripple effect of positive change, how improving mental wellbeing not only transforms someone’s life but also strengthens their relationships with family, friends, and colleagues.
My own journey into therapy began in 2024, when I completed a Counselling Skills course. I was then extremely fortunate to train and graduate from the highly regarded Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) school in Bristol, founded by David Newton, the originator of SFH. Alongside being a hypnotherapist, I enjoy cycling, gardening, walking the dog, exploring and travelling whenever I can. Not to mention a great coffee!
It gives me genuine joy to witness people reclaiming their confidence, hope, and sense of possibility. Helping clients take small, positive steps forward and seeing the profound difference this makes in their lives is truly the most rewarding part of my work.
Helen
